Classic Blackjack is played with one standard deck of 52 playing cards that is shuffled before each game. If you go over 21 this is called going BUST and you automatically lose the hand. Cards are dealt from a deck of cards called a shoe. Aces can have a value of either 1 or 11. You will be dealt two cards. You may draw up to nine additional cards to make a hand of eleven cards, provided the value of your hand does not exceed 21. Blackjack beats a score of 21. The Dealer will announce Blackjack, pay you one and one-half times the bet, then remove those cards before acting on any other hands.
These may be represented as either a + and - symbol or up and down arrows. If the dealer's hand and the player's hand are both under 21 the hands are compared. The dealer will not check for Blackjack in any case. The dealer must hit on all hands totaling 16 or less and stand on all hands totaling 17 or more. The Stand button, sometimes called the Stay button, ends your hand and moves the game onto the next phase be it the completion of the dealer's hand or of your second hand in the case of a Split. You can split two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens or two Fours, by clicking the Split button.
