In Blackjack, before you are dealt any cards you have the option of making a $1 side bet that allows you to participate in additional payouts.
It is played with between one and six standard decks of cards. If you go over 21 this is called going BUST and you automatically lose the hand. If the total value of your cards is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, you win as much as you had wagered.
Each of the player's hands is dealt two cards. You may draw up to nine additional cards to make a hand of eleven cards, provided the value of your hand does not exceed 21. If you have a total of 22 or higher (a busted hand), you lose regardless of whether the dealer also busts.
The goal is for the player's hand to add up to 21 or come closer to 21 than the dealer's hand.
These may be represented as either a + and - symbol or up and down arrows. If the dealer's hand and the player's hand are both under 21 the hands are compared. It does not cover any second hands on a split, or a double bet. A second wager – equal to your original wager – is automatically placed on your second hand. The Stand button, sometimes called the Stay button, ends your hand and moves the game onto the next phase be it the completion of the dealer's hand or of your second hand in the case of a Split. You can split two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens or two Fours, by clicking the Split button.
