The deck is re-shuffled after each hand. If the value of your hand is closer to 21 than that of the dealer, you win. If the value of the dealer's hand is higher than yours you lose. It cannot be beaten, only matched. Only one additional card allowed on each Ace when splitting a pair of Aces.
The bets can only be changed or added between games. If the dealer's hand and the player's hand are both under 21 the hands are compared. The dealer will not check for Blackjack in any case. The Hit button deals you another card. If you do not have Blackjack on your first two cards, you may decide to stand (draw no more cards), or hit (draw more cards) until you decide to stand. You can split two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens or two Fours, by clicking the Split button.
