The object of BlackJack is to obtain a hand with the highest possible value without exceeding 21.
In Blackjack, aces count as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10, and number cards as their face value. If you are dealt an Ace and a card with a value of 10, you have Blackjack. Traditionally a shoe may contain anything from one standard 52-card deck – no jokers – to 6 or sometimes 8 decks. It is the strongest hand in Blackjack, and automatically stands.
An Ace and eight will add up to 19 but if the player chooses to take another card that would cause the hand's value to exceed 21 the Ace will revert to a value of 1.
The bets can only be changed or added between games. Insurance only covers your original hand. If the player doubles and the dealer's first card is of value 11, and the dealer gets blackjack, the player loses both his bets. For example, a King and a Ten have the same numerical value, but cannot be split because the cards are not the same denomination.
The SPLIT button is only available if the first two cards dealt are a pair.
