The game is played on a semi-circular table with 5 or 7 playing positions. If you go over 21 this is called going BUST and you automatically lose the hand. The deck is re-shuffled after each hand. Traditionally a shoe may contain anything from one standard 52-card deck – no jokers – to 6 or sometimes 8 decks.
Each of the player's hands is dealt two cards. For example, a
hand containing a Jack, 3, and 4 has a value of 17. The Dealer will announce Blackjack, pay you one and one-half times the bet, then remove those cards before acting on any other hands.
The Dealer is also dealt two cards but only one card is face up. The player may double after splitting. If your initial two cards do not total 21 then you may request additional cards, called a Hit. The Hit button deals you another card. If your card count goes over 21, you lose.
