8 52-card decks are used. If you are dealt an Ace and a card with a value of 10, you have Blackjack. Traditionally a shoe may contain anything from one standard 52-card deck – no jokers – to 6 or sometimes 8 decks. For example, a
hand containing a Jack, 3, and 4 has a value of 17. Each of the player's hands is dealt two cards.
The Dealer's hand is dealt in strict accordance with the terms of the Casino. The card that remains face down is called the 'hole card'. If your initial two cards do not total 21 then you may request additional cards, called a Hit. A second wager – equal to your original wager – is automatically placed on your second hand. If you are dealt a Blackjack (an ace and a card of value ten) then the dealer will automatically lose unless his single card is an Ace or a card of value 10.
