The cards are dealt clockwise from a dealing "shoe. If you receive an ace and a ten-value card as your first two cards, you have Blackjack and win one and a half times your bet. Traditionally a shoe may contain anything from one standard 52-card deck – no jokers – to 6 or sometimes 8 decks. Individual tables may have a higher minimum bet and a lower maximum bet. It cannot be beaten, only matched. When your hand and the Dealer's hand tie, it is called a Push.
Insurance costs half your original bet. Insurance only covers your original hand. If your initial two cards do not total 21 then you may request additional cards, called a Hit. Cards of the same value but not of the same denomination cannot be split in this version of Blackjack. The Stand button, sometimes called the Stay button, ends your hand and moves the game onto the next phase be it the completion of the dealer's hand or of your second hand in the case of a Split. You can split two cards with the same denomination, such as two Queens or two Fours, by clicking the Split button.
