In Blackjack, before you are dealt any cards you have the option of making a $1 side bet that allows you to participate in additional payouts.
Face cards have a value of 10 and the Aces a value of one or eleven. If you go over 21 this is called going BUST and you automatically lose the hand. The aim is to beat the Dealer's hand by either getting a better hand, without exceeding 21, or by the Dealer's hand going bust. If the value of your hand is closer to 21 than that of the dealer, you win. It is the strongest hand in Blackjack, and automatically stands. The Dealer will be dealt one card.
The Dealer is also dealt two cards but only one card is face up. Insurance only covers your original hand. If your initial two cards do not total 21 then you may request additional cards, called a Hit. A second wager – equal to your original wager – is automatically placed on your second hand. The Stand button, sometimes called the Stay button, ends your hand and moves the game onto the next phase be it the completion of the dealer's hand or of your second hand in the case of a Split. You then proceed to draw cards.
