In Blackjack, before you are dealt any cards you have the option of making a $1 side bet that allows you to participate in additional payouts.
The game is played on a semi-circular table with 5 or 7 playing positions. If you go over 21 this is called going BUST and you automatically lose the hand. The aim is to beat the Dealer's hand by either getting a better hand, without exceeding 21, or by the Dealer's hand going bust. Your hand automatically stands.
An Ace has a value of either 1 or 11. If you beat the Dealer with Blackjack you are paid out at odds of 3 to 2. All hands that purchased INSURANCE win if the dealer has a BLACKJACK – you will break even; if the dealer doesn't have a BLACKJACK the INSURANCE bet loses.
However, if the Dealers face up card is an Ace or Ten value card, he will act on all hands. The card that remains face down is called the 'hole card'. The HIT button tells the dealer to deal you another card. The dealer must hit on all hands totaling 16 or less and stand on all hands totaling 17 or more. For example, a King and a Ten have the same numerical value, but cannot be split because the cards are not the same denomination.
The SPLIT button is only available if the first two cards dealt are a pair.
