In Blackjack, before you are dealt any cards you have the option of making a $1 side bet that allows you to participate in additional payouts.
Face cards have a value of 10 and the Aces a value of one or eleven. Cards are dealt from a deck of cards called a shoe. Traditionally a shoe may contain anything from one standard 52-card deck – no jokers – to 6 or sometimes 8 decks. The
value of a hand is the sum of the values of the individual cards. It cannot be beaten, only matched. When your hand and the Dealer's hand tie, it is called a Push.
The bets can only be changed or added between games. Insurance only covers your original hand. The HIT button tells the dealer to deal you another card. The dealer must hit on all hands totaling 16 or less and stand on all hands totaling 17 or more. The Stand button, sometimes called the Stay button, ends your hand and moves the game onto the next phase be it the completion of the dealer's hand or of your second hand in the case of a Split.
If you have SPLIT a pair of aces and then draw a card with a value of ten then this is not a BLACKJACK.
